When these discs or vertebrae are damaged (change in structure due to metabolic disorders), osteochondrosis occurs, which bears the name of the affected area: cervical osteochondrosis, chest and lumbar.
With cervical osteochondrosis, the nerve roots extending from the spinal cord are compressed and the vessels are compressed, which disrupts blood flow. because, within tense muscles, blood is difficult to move. Of course, the blood supply to the brain is also interrupted, as a result of which oxygen starvation occurs.
In addition, all these nerves coming out of the spinal cord are connected to our internal organs and therefore, their work is also interrupted.
Also, the causes of cervical osteochondrosis can be:
- intervertebral disc injuries;
- weight lifting;
- incorrect behavior;
- hypothermia, drafts;
- incorrectly performed procedures, for example, massage, and others.
- overeating, overweight - excessive stress on the back;
- use of spicy, salty exacerbates osteochondrosis;
- congenital or acquired scoliosis, kyphosis, lordosis;
- Prolonged exposure to vibration - working with construction machinery, driving, etc.
- uncomfortable bed, feather beds, large pillows, therefore, the position of the neck in sleep is wrong;
- hereditary predisposition;
- loads on the spine, not only strong but, for example, monotonous;
- pathology of the musculoskeletal system;
- asymmetry of the temporomandibular joint, its damage, chewing habits, malocclusion;
- uncomfortable tight bra straps, tight collar;
- work with vigorous movements of the same type (especially when half-bending forward): saw that splits firewood, gardening with a shovel, with a hoe, washing on the board, vacuuming and the like.
The symptoms of cervicothoracic osteochondrosis depend directly on the target. In this regard, a group of syndromes associated with this disease is distinguished:
- Radicular syndrome.Radicular syndrome occurs when the nerve roots in the cervical region are compressed (compressed nerve). It is also called the cervical radicle. Cervical osteochondrosis is a complex disease that requires long-term, systematic and gradual treatment. The therapy aims to eliminate pain and fight the inflammatory process in the affected area.
